Pythia, would fulfill certain rituals before she initiated herself into her spiritual role of prophetess: bathe, purify in the Castalian waters; dress in ceremonial robes; sit upon a tripod in the temple; inhale vapors arising from a chasm; fall into a state of trance; channel Apollo’s words. Somewhere... somewhere, there is a picture of me in a polyester dress and dogeared hair in Santa's lap. I'm smiling shyly in all that polyester, orange glory and the dress is doing what I could not; the dress is being loud. I like that those kids are being louds. Sort of.
